Disable Windows Defender Permanently

Follow these steps to disable Windows Defender permanently:

  1. Open Windows Security
  2. Click Virus & threat protection
  3. Click Manage Settings
  4. Turn off Tamper Protection

  5. Press Window + R button
  6. Search gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy Editor
  7. Go to
    Local Group Policy Editor > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Defender Antivirus

  8. Double-click the Turn off Microsoft Defender Antivirus policy
  9. Select the Enabled option to disable Microsoft Defender Antivirus
    gpedit_windowsdefender_disabled
  10. Click Apply
  11. Disable Realtime Protection. Go to Local Group Policy > Microsoft Defender Antivirus > Real-time Protection > Turn off real-time protection. Set to Enable.
  12. Restart your PC
